U.S. Corrugated Expands in Southeast

March 8, 2008 Official Board Markets

U.S. Corrugated acquires Anderson Packaging Inc. (API), a Kentucky-based corrugated packaging manufacturer. Terms weren’t disclosed. API operates sheet plant facilities in Somerset and Lawrenceburg, Ky., and provides its customers industrial packaging, including short runs and quick turnaround deliveries, as well as specialty packaging, inner-packaging, and assembly and fulfillment services.

“We’re very excited about the API acquisition,” says Jeff Corke, U.S. Corrugated’s senior vice president-Midwest. “Besides giving us additional converting capacity in the Southeastern U.S., we also gain breadth in our service offering and access to a highly trained and effective sales force in that part of the country.”

Jim Kessinger, president and ceo of API, will continue to manage the API operations.

“We are thrilled about the opportunity to come together with a progressive industry leader like U.S. Corrugated,” he says. “They have been extremely easy to work with in the transaction, and this partnership will certainly strengthen us both in our local markets.” API converts microflute through traditional B&C flutes, double- and triplewall corrugated. It offers in-house design, manufacturing, and pack-out services, as well as foam, folding cartons, pallets, and poly bags. The company services customers in Kentucky, southern Indiana, and northern Tennessee, and has earned a solid reputation in its 24 years in business.

U.S. Corrugated operates 20 full-service manufacturing facilities, including its state of the art recycled containerboard mill in Cowpens, S.C. Sister companies include Mannkraft Corp. and U.S. Display Group.
