PCA Pays $22,500 in Fines
February 18, 2009 By: Packaging online staff Box BizPackaging Corp. of America (PCA), Lake Forest, Ill., has paid $22,500 in fines for the explosion that killed three and injured one at its semichemical medium mill in Tomahawk, Wis., last July.
The company had until Feb. 12 to contest the fines, issued last month by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). PCA was cited for four serious violations, including poor ventilation for flammable gases. A spokesperson at OSHA says problems are fully or nearly fixed.
