SSCC Will Close Jacksonville Box Plant

Chicago based-Smurfit-Stone Container Corp. (SSCC) will close its Jacksonville, Fla., box plant in the first quarter of next year. The closure will affect 120 workers. The company says the shutdown is part of an ongoing plan to streamline its operations. Its two recycling plants, a containerboard mill, and a preprint facility in Jacksonville will not be affected by the box plant’s closing.
