Norampac’s boxboard mills in East Angus and Jonquière, Quebec, have received a Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certification for their use of raw materials. This makes the East Angus mill the first boxboard manufacturer to receive the FSC 100 percent recycled certification in North America.
In order to obtain the FSC 100 percent recycled certification for its Conquest® and Orford® products, the East Angus mill had to demonstrate that it respects the minimum percentage of postconsumer fibers required when purchasing the raw materials.
The Jonquière mill has received the FSC mixed certification for its products such as ArctiKoat®, Sylvacycle®, Supercycle®, Sylvatech®, Microcycle®, and Zkoat™. This type of certification is given to mills that manufacture their products from both recycled and virgin fibers. The Jonquière mill also proved that its products are made with the percentage of post-consumer fibers required and from FSC certified virgin fibers.
The company’s Versailles, Conn., board mill has also been audited in the FSC standardization process for its products, and expects to receive the certification shortly.
